Inroduction

Hi! This blog is for me to write about what I've read this past week. I've always loved reading - or being read to when I was younger. I remember when Disney's Beauty and the Beast came out - everyone said the scene where Belle was walking through town "with her nose stuck in a book" reminded them of me. And I still read like that! I never seem to be too far from a book - most of the time I'm reading 2 or 3 at a time.

This past week was a slow one on the reading front.

First book completed was The Summer of Skinny Dipping by Amanda Howell. I really enjoyed this book. I stayed up late finishing it. A great story of a young girl's love, family relations and growing up. Very well written and a great book in the young adult collection. Brought me to tears. I would recommend this for all - older teens, young adults and every woman who enjoys a good coming of age or romance story. I told my 14 year old she had to read it!

I also read Intervention by Robin Cook. I think this was one of his worse books ever. He tried to bring religious mystery into it along the lines of Dan Brown and failed miserably. I kept hoping it would get better, but it just got worse as it went along. He started with some great storylines in the beginning and exploring the death of the young girl from alternate medicine while researching alternate treatments for his son would have been wonderful - I kept hoping the story would go back to these plot lines. One of Robin Cook's worse.

My favorite and last book read was How to be an American Housewife by Margaret Dilloway. This book was fantastic. I laughed and cried. I was even late returning to work after lunch I was so engrossed in the book! A great story of mothers and daughters, cultures, misunderstandings, family and reconciliation. recommending this one to everyone I know!
